 New Delhi: One of the most awaited corporate golfing events of the season, The TAKE Solutions World Corporate Golf Challenge, will tee off from the Kodikanal Golf Club on December 29th - 30th , 2009. This multi city corporate event is the only corporate golfing event in the country which gives Indian corporate teams a unique opportunity to represent their country in the annual World Golf Championship of corporate teams.
The event comprises of regional rounds in major Indian cities that comprise representatives from respective zones and culminate with a National Final, the winners of which go on to play the world championship at an exotic golf destination.
This year the event will be played over two days in Mumbai on January 23rd -24th followed by Bangalore at Eagleton Golf Resort on February 26th - 27th , Delhi at Jaypee Greens on Mar 5th-6th and finally the National Finals on March 20th - 21st at Boulder Hills, Hyderabad.
Other teams that have represented India in the past at the world finals are BPCL, Parle Foods, Standard Chartered Bank, Deutsche Bank (from Mumbai), Indian Airlines, Hero Motors, GE, Golden Peacock & McCann Ericson. In 2008, the Indian Team from Credit Suisse became the first and only Indian team to emerge victorious at the World Finals held at the famed La Manga Club in Spain. In 2007 the team from Mercedes-Benz finished a creditable 5th amongst the 25 participating countries and were also voted the most popular team of the tournament.
This year The World Corporate Golf Challenge 2010 World Final will be held in May in the beautiful Garden Route district of South Africa. Recently voted 'Golf Destination of the Year - Africa and Gulf States' by IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators) South Africa's Cape Garden Route boasts a wealth of top-class golf courses, and is renowned around the world for its immense natural beauty. The Garden Route is the Golf Mecca of South Africa, and has become a destination in itself.The World Finals have been held annually since 1994 at the exclusive La Manga Club in Spain apart from one edition each in Jamaica, Mauritius and Kuala Lumpur. India started participating in it since 1999.
